Feasting on God's blessings

It's amazing how God answers our prayers. Sometimes the answers are so obvious. Sometimes not. Sometimes they seem to fit our expectations. Sometimes not.

I had prayed for quite some time that God would send me a friend. A girlfriend who I could talk to and have lunch with. I expected her to be someone from church. He sent me someone at work. Then he added to my blessings by sending me two more friends - this time from church. But not girlfriends.

These friends came in the form of two men whose lives I've touched. And who have blessed me way more than I could ever bless them. They rely on my wisdom and judgement. Which seems strange, because I don't consider myself wise. But they give to me total and unconditional acceptance. And a couple of weeks ago, when I was sick and had to miss church, they came by to see me and brought me flowers! And sat and visited with me.

I know that if I need anything at all, all I have to do is pick up the phone and they will be there. Doing whatever they can for me. I am so blessed to have these friends. One who tells me every time he talks to me that he loves me. The other, a little more reserved, but whose love I can feel. We bear each other's burdens. And so fulfill the law of Christ.

Dear God, I thank you and praise you for the blessings of friends you have brought into my life. I thank you that you know before we ask what we need. And that the best blessings in life come when we seek not to be served, but to serve others. I thank you for the friendships that are developing in my life and the opportunities we have to be Christ to one another. I pray that you will continue to show me opportunities for ministry and that you will continue to bring those in my life that I can be of value to. In all things, I give you Glory and Praise. Amen.
